Her hand has held thousands of hands, hugged thousands of hugs, kissed thousands of kisses. And now she lay helpless & confused, unsure of the here-and-now. What I’d give to wind back time; when the weeks, days, hours & minutes weren’t being counted down. When I had you endlessly, no end in sight. Still, I’ll never give you up.
This is my Nana Dot, age 79. Mother of 12 with so many grand & great grandchildren, we’ve all loss count. She’s been fighting cancer for the past 2 years. She beat it last year, unfortunately it’s returned in full force and now she has an inoperable brain tumor. She is the strongest woman I have ever met. She never ceases to amaze me. I’ve never felt safer in anyone else’s embrace. My grandma owns my heart. Her smile & laugh brightens my darkest days. I wish everyone had a Nana Dot or at least had the pleasure of meeting mine.
